    Hello All,
Thanks to the advice in this forum, I picked up a Curve (Verizon). I've set it up and noticed the backlight dims, apparently at random times. I set the auto dim to off. Any ideas? Thanks

No ideas - the auto dim is a great feature to save the battery and make it more visible in different lighting situations. (I'm sure you knew that but I just HAD to write it!) I would think, however, that if you disabled the Auto Dim that it would cease to dim automatically. Hmmmmm

I too was wondering why the auto dim feature was still on. I got my 8330 about 5 days ago and immediately turned the auto dim off. It worked for about 1 day and went back to auto dimming

You know....I turned my auto-dim on my phone off when I got my Curve three weeks ago with the Stock OS 4.2 or 4.3, and it didn't dim, but once I upgraded my OS to 4.5.077 it started doing it again...I wonder if the upgrade had something to do with it.

Benz is correct, it will dim whenever it feels like it...

Well I don't know if the os causes it to do it or not because I have the stock os on mine also and that's 4.3. It could be 4.3 and up, I'm not sure, just taking a guess

the dim is caused by light sensing that will increase screen brightness whenever ambient light increases, and conversely back down again when it decreases. this bugs the **** out of me, as I can see the screen just fine without the increased brightness. I tried finding a way to disable this, but it does not seem to exist. it would be a nice feature

im also having this same problem after i upgraded to 4.5. i believe it's a bug but others seem to think that it should do that even though it is set it not to. go figure

I thought I had this fixed when I turned aut0 dim off, but the other day it did a random dim on me. It is much better with auto dim off, though.

    I have OS 4.3.

The light on the keys/trackball wants to come in after 1 min of typing. It makes no sense.

So I got two blackberry curves 8330, one silver for me and one pick for my wife. I notice the annoying dimming of the light at times. But I found a fix due to somebody putting it up on another thread.

what I did was swap batteries from my wifes phone and it fix it self. Apparently it looks to be a battery issue that comes stock with the phone at purchase. So if you know anybody with the same battery ask for a switch.

As for the Keyboard light just power off-on and it will fix it self. Well at least it did for me.

    Hope this helps everbody.

Same issue here, it dims even with the setting off, sometimes the trackball does not even ligth up at all.

    No reason for this?

I just did a research on that, there is a sensor a the top of the cell phones, once the phone is "off" cover the top with your hand and press any key, it will light up normal. there is no option to change that.
