    i know on the 8900 series phone you can hold the right "alt" button , the left caps button and the delete button to preform a soft reboot.

    will this work on the 83xx series device.?

    No. It's a soft reset. To do a hard reset do the key combination a second time when the white screen appears. Of course neither of these procedures actually removes the power from your BB like a BP.
