Since this is my first BB, is this something you are supposed to do regularly with your phone like windows updates for your computer etc? And how do I know when there is a new OS for my phone?

Check with RIM at BlackBerry or go through your provider and see if an update is available. Updates will also be posted here.

The .52 was tagged as official on Orange, so you can install this if it is compatible with your device... but it is still not 'official' in the US yet!! The OS is not official for your device until it is supported by your carrier... that is all official really means. There is no difference in the Orange .52 and the Beta .52!!

And, the OP has an 8330... so she cannot use any .52 release... they would need .51!!
