The VZW website states to Close the BlackBerry Handheld Device software.
, What does that mean? Is that saying to close all open programs running, or shutdown my bb completely???

its easier if you just do a battery pull to close all the apps, then when it comes back on, and loads up, connect it to the computer

Ok, thanks, just one more question, I downloaded the new v4.5 desktop manager, do I need to install that before I do the update?

I'd say so...

1. Download and install BB DM 4.6
2. Download and install BB OS(after deleting any prior ones of the puter)
3. Delete the vendor.xml file (program files/common files/r.i.m./app...)
4. Open DM and connect phone, upgrade should start automatically

*note, step 4 could take an hour +....do NOT disconnect your device*


...those are the steps that I use. No problems yet with 2 curves and about a dozen OS upgrades.

Official VZW 4.5 you do not have to remove the vendor file..

You only need to remove it if you get the OS from another carrier ie. Cellular South - if you are installing Verizon software on a Verizon device you don't need to do it.
