The deleting things sounds like low memory

options>Status or alt - shift - H and look for file free memory

If you are below 12mb you need to get to cleaning up......

If you are not updating with an official from your carrier you need to delete the vendor.xml file.

Well I would address the possible memory issue if there is one. If not just follow the tutorial and it should play nicely. DM 4.6 is the most stable of the lot I think so its not that. Did you download the OS and install it on the PC?

deleting things is attributed to low free file memory.

do you have another version of the OS installed on your pc? if you do, you'll need to uninstall it. which OS version are you trying to upgrade to? DM 4.6 should be fine.

I had problems with messages deleting too. I read the forms and found out how to delete apps, languages, etc., that I didn't need - use. I have my berry go to sleep for an hour each night and I still a battery pull at least once a week. I haven't had problems with messages deleting since.
