I am having a problem synchronizing my Outlook address book to my BlackBerry 8320.
The Device Manager configuration is set up for a one-way sync from Outlook to the device. Of the 2570 entries in Outlook address book, 7 entries will not synchronize to the device (2563 entries do synchronize). The 7 entries that do not synchronize have a common character (); however other entries that have the same character do synchronize. Nothing appears in the synchronization log as to what the problem is.
I am using:
BlackBerry Device Manager, v. 4.7.0.32
BlackBerry 8320, v. 4.5.0.81
Outlook 2003, SP3
Windows XP
Stevec325, I will try the 4.6. Yester18, no, I dont have any Outlook calendar events from someone elses program. And Rsarco, over 2500 concerns me as well but I just cant bring myself to deleting anyone . . . .
Sh*t... OK, it must be something unique about those contacts. Try this... create a new one, duplicating the information in one of the old ones. You may have to rename the old one first.
You can start by adding a subset of the information to the contact. Then as you incrementally add more info, see what causes it to NOT sync.

Your problem may not be with the Device Manager version but rather the supported characters on your device. The character you mentioned () may not be a supported character.
Stevec325, I did create a new entries duplicating the information in the old ones and deleting the old ones completely - same problem. Ericfeazel, the character is available in the BlackBerry and is indeed contained in other entries that synchronize successfully . . .
Did you try creating the contact with the most basic information? Just with the name & tel #.... no address or other information??? It has to something in the "contact" record preventing it from being picked up.
I don't think you are over you limit for entries, since I have a few more than you do - and sync OK.
Let's try creating the contact directly on the BB. I know you only are doing one-way sync now, so create one of the problem contacts on the BB and see if when you sync, you will get a "duplicate contact found" message from DM. Or, if it asks you to replace the one on the BB, with the one in Outlook.
I'm pretty stumped on this. Never seen anything like it.
Ive narrowed it down and now have only 4 contacts not synchronizing.
The entries not synchronizing have the character as the last character, whether in the name, file as or text fields. By even adding a period after the , the entry will synchronize.
Ive also tried leaving that character out and adding it from the device and then synchronizing to Outlook, but again it does not transfer.
I assume at this point its for RIM to resolve, no?
