I just bought an AT&T (unlocked) 8310 running on OS v4.2.2.170 , I was wondering if I can install the T-Mobile OS v4.2.2.180 which is for 8320 ? Also how can I get rid of the AT&T logo when the phone boots up ?
pltaylor is correct, it HAS to be for what ever model device you have. I would suggest you wait on upgrading though. Do some research, and get more familiar with your device before attempting something that could render yours useless for a while until fixed.

definitely make sure you know what your doing, you dont want to nuke your berry right after you got it! no fun!
The lads have told you right. Do what pltaylor says and follow the instructions in the Upgrade thread.
Do get CrackMem because it will help you a lot - not just cuz it's my program. Please read the Help text because it was carefully written to take the pain out of first time upgrades.
You cannot ever get rid of the AT&T splash screen. It is like the BIOS screen on your PC. It will never go away.
SInce the phone will always be an AT&T branded phone it will always try to load AT&T specific stuff like themes and Push To Talk so use CrackMem to rid yourself of these BEFORE you install.
