Guys, recently I went overseas. As advised by many peeps here I chose the option: "Off When Roaming" to minimise any heavy data charges.

When I reached my hotel, there is a wifi hotspot so I turned on my wifi and got connected to their free hotspot. The moment I did that, I started receiving emails and I am able to chat with my friends on the blackberry messenger (bbm). My question is will all these data be free? I always thought BBM cannot be done via free wireless network?

    Pls advise. Thks.

hmmmm...well its quistonable. i say this becuase bis features like bbm and email do not work unless you connected to your service provider and data. i know you stated you connected to wifi but it sounds like wifi was enabled it also enabled your data and if you were abroad you may have occured roaming charges. you may want to connect your service provider and verify the charges and request a credit based on the situation. cheers.

Wifi is free unless your hotel charged you for it.
