It's about time Cellular South comes out with an upgrade. Hopefully I can get some youtube on my phone. I haven't been able to do that yet, and to me that defeats having a smart phone!

Have you checked lately youtube has been up and running on Cellular South for about a week. I installed .169 and its a lot faster than .160..... its better than any of the ones i've tried ( .77,.127,.131,.138,.160)

It says for cellular south but is it also for Alltel? I did not have to delete the vendor.xml file this time, actually i just hooked up my berry to my computer and it installed on its own.

Woke up this morning to a lowercase 1xev, and only a battery pull would fix it. Not impressed so far.

.160 added a nice touch to my BB experience, frozen BB. I sort of got used to the random reboots, but when the device is hosed when I try to use, that is not good.

Did a full wipe and install too, oh well here's hoping .169 is better.

.......and dang, the DL is sllllooooooooowwwww. They must be throttling it back because of all the action.

Yes it will. The carrier does not matter just be sure to delete the vendor.xml file

Also make sure you download version 8330 or 8330m depending on which one you have. They are not interchangeable.

Any reports on how this is running, and if there is any noticeable differences or improvements?

I loaded it on my Sprint 8330m last night, and I've been pretty happy. I was coming from .131 and have noticed that the device is noticeably quicker now.

I also have a stable signal now, none of the 0 bars - 5 bars bouncing that I used to see. The issue of bouncing from IXEV to IX to IXEV after sending SMS is gone as well.

I'm very happy with .169 so far!

This release has been most the stable my BB has been since I got it. I only seem to have a reboot when I first turn it on in the morning. I turn it on and it's on long enough to receive any email (maybe 30 seconds), then reboots. After that it's on all day until I turn it off. I have always had at least 1 random reboot a day since I had this phone and sometimes had those "fits of reboots" where it would do it, 4-5 times in an hour.

Other than that I see no changes over .160, which made my phone quite a bit more responsive over .138.

    - No chirp "in call"
    - Stable platform
    - Seems faster
    - Hour Glass syndrome is gone
    - Signal Strength improved
thats what I've noticed....and imo its better than .131 hybrid...buts that's just me.

I installed last night and have noticed quite an improvement in speed and coverage. No chirp. Looks like that was a problem on Verizon anyway. Definite improvement.

Something subtle I forgot to add, no more lag when I answer a call. That got introduced with .160 for me.

I forgot it because, for me, it was easy to get usedm lol

which hybrid are you running. I was thinking of trying the .169 with the 4.6/5.0 hybrid. Are you running the radio from .169? The 4.6/5.0 hybrid is kinda wearing off on me. Started out awesome and kinda degrades over time.

Ha this OS has been nothing but trouble for me. Sure, the signal meter and stuffs fixed now but that doesn't help when the majority of the time I only get about 2KB/sec downloads, not to mention that the facebook app (and a few others) takes a good THREE MINUTES to connect before the arrows even pop up now... Only app that uses data that's even remotely responsive is the built in browser and I even get horrible connection times there sometimes.

Now I just have to figure which of the evils I want... .160 with its random LOL NO DATA problems, .138 that can get stuck in roaming and not come out of it without a radio cycle, not to mention not having a call timer or .131 with a signal meter that acts like an epileptic fit.

I love this phone but the fact they can't seem to fix the problems is driving me nuts.
