no idea. im cellular south, they pretty much do their own thing. but you can check.

make sure you have desktop manager installed, then in internet explorer go to BlackBerry - Update your Device Software and click the check for updates button. it may ask you to allow the activex control or whatever and allow that and itll start the update thing.

no, if you use anything else it will tell you you need IE version 5.5 or above.

it uses activex to run the program on your computer and thats part of IE. it doesnt work with firefox or anything.

Easiest way to find your version is type myver* without the * at the end. Just be sure to hit a space after. It will print like this in a msg. 8330/4.5.0.77

My 8330 keeps powering down in the middle of the RAM upgrade. Any suggestions? My carrier is CellularSouth. I am currently running .77.

You just have to let it sit. How long is it taking? I thought mine was frozen but I just left it alone and finally it caught up. Its supposed to power down while its updating and then it'll reboot eventually

you should be fine in doing the upgrade using IE and going to BlackBerry - Update your Device Software and should not encounter any problems. be sure that you are waiting long enough as previously recommended. the entire process does take 20-30 minutes depending on how much data's on your device. If that's not the case, give this a try:

    1. before you upgrade, open DM with your BB plugged in and click on backup/restore, choose advance

    2. Click on the first item in the right pane, hold shift and click on the last item. Move these files over to the left pane and click on file and save your backup

    3. Now try the upgrade, but this time, when it ask you to backup user data say no.

    4. After it's done, you will have to manually restore you databases by doing the opposite in step 2. Just click on file, open to find the saved database file.

Yeah or you could do that lol.

But yeah, mine had a blank screen for at least 10-15mins while it was updating and the status on DM was moving really slowly. I just let it sit and eventually it'll go

I was more scared that I'd really brick it if I unplugged it lol so that's why I waited so long and finally it went thru and rebooted and it was fine

Actually, it turned out to be the fact I was running it on Windows 7 beta. I left it connected over night (5-6 hours) and it never upgraded. I rebooted my computer into Windows Vista and the upgrade went through without a problem. Thanks.

Before I make a mistake and get booted or reprimanded somehow, I'll just ask.

Are we allowed to post links or forward emails from our devices that point others to what this email said about this update to 4.5.0.127?
