Select "BlackBerry 8300 (TM)" from the list NOT "BlackBerry Curve 8300 (TM)"
Instructions for installation:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager (v4.3) installed.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader
4. Plug in BB 8300 and open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
This process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process). You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization".
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.
Enjoy!

I would really like to upgrade to this new OS, but I am a bit nervous after reading nightmare stories from others who have upgraded only to be greeted with the permanent white screen! Can anyone give me reassurance that I will be OK to go ahead and upgrade my 8320 Curve? I am currently using the original OS it came with (4.2.2.180).

All advice welcome!
I've upgraded all of my families BB's (mom, dad, sister, brother) and mine numerous times and I have never had any problems. It always flashed successfully

Good to know... I may try to upgrade later today when I have an hour block to do it. It looks like that's about how long it takes. Wow... can I give up an hour with my BB? Hmmm.... I'll post my results in case it might be helpful to anyone else considering this update.
What advantages are there to the upgrade. I have a 8310 which was just replaced this weekend. It is from AT&T and the version is 4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30
Cryptographic kernel v3.8.4.87
When I go to the link above it shows DL for TIM Italy which is no big deal but then it looks like the version is for T-Mobile phones or does the TM stand for something else.
Actually when I sign up it says I have rights to Air time from TIM Italy so is this platform for all BB or just from Italy?

It will work on any BB (no matter which carrier you have) just make sure you remove the Vendor.xml
