ok i apologize if this has been repeated but im a bb newbie and i thought this was easy enough to do but it seems I can't figure this out. So I went to this thread to dl the v4.5.0.81 OS and followed the instructions on how to dl and install the new os. I though I had everything right up until this part....7. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it. It didn't prompt the upgrade when i connected my bb to the desktop manager so I went to the app loader and tried and i didn't see it listed in the updates and when i hit next it still didn't do anything. what did I do wrong? The only thing in the instructions I didn't do was 6. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader if the OS is not from your carrier. because the os was from my carrier. I have a bb 8310 from att. any help would be appreciated.

you need to delete the vendor.xml file At&t has not released 4.5 for your device yet.

that's weird, I thought I dl it from the att bb website. I think it's working now.

I tried to check the at&t site, its closed for maintenance. The RIM/Att downloads only has 4.2

Even if you d/l the new OS, make sure you delete the vendor.xml file. Also, remember to try and get your hands on the latest desktop manager software. Enjoy!

4.5 runs really well on the curve its an awesome update, glad you were able to get it squared away!

now my camera won't work it says could not start the camera. close other applications and try opening the camera again. I don't know what applications I have running, sigh.

hmm thats odd... i haven't seen that issue, what build did you install?

4.5.0.81 and i just did a battery pull and it's ok now. I'm wondering what else is different about this new upgrade? I noticed I can take video now but I still see the html stuff in my emails.

video and HTML in email are the big ones, your contacts look different in address book, you can support larger SD cards (up to 8gb i believe) and they tweaked the web browser.

i followed the link and selected my product 8310..and it loads 4.2 onto my computer...should i have chosen the software 4.5? I tried 4.6 before and it just completely bogged down my computer and did not even update my bb..would someone mind helping me out here? Att is my carrier

I am currently running it on the 8820.. and i do have it on my 8300. It runs silky smooth but i believe they are still trying to iron a few things out. From what i'm told it should be released very shortly
