If i can use the desktop manager to backup my services books on my cricket flashed 8330, would i be able to do the software update and then reload the service books back onto it and have working mms and internet again?
You should not need to restore service books from the backup. Typically, service books are resent as part of the OS upgrade but if you have difficulties you can resend from the device or your carrier's BIS site (from your PC).
