I ordered a new housing and the battery cover does not slide closed. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Took it apart and put it back together three times...Thanks...

Is it visibly damaged?

If the center is bowing a bit you'll need to uniformly place pressure while sliding it down to lock.

I think the Verizon version of the 8330 is slightly different than other 8330s. I bought one once and had the same issue as you. when looking for another one on eBay, the auction stated it was for the 8330, but there's a slight fitting issue on Verizon's 8330.

did you change the midplate? or just take it apart to change the face?
