    I received my curve last night. Nice phone. It has 4.2 I believe. Should I upgrade and if so to what version

    I would suggest waiting to upgrade until you are more familiar with your device. Maybe a week or two. The newest version for the curve is 4.5. It has been officially been released by T-mobile only in the US and a few non-US carriers. Not by Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. Good luck with your new curve.
