No. A back up is made at the time of installation. As an added back up I made sure to sync with my Outlook before performing the OS upgrade.

Everything is restored automatically after the upgrade.

Downloading right now. I hope there is some kind of update for the media player with this. I am using a BlueAnt X5i bluetooth stereo headset and the quality stinks on the 8300 vs. my friends new 8320.

Updating 8300 OS (ver. 4.2 SP2) from the AT&T website. At computer restart, received message box "BbDevMgrDeviceListener" program is not responding. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have the same questions. I have a Curve (8300) with AT&T with the 4.2.2.89 OS and I'm not too sure if it's a current version or older version.

Sorry but this is my first smart phone!

sorry this may be a silly question - i'm new to this but i found the version number (thanks to instructions above) - mine says 4.2.2.75 (4.2.0.31) compared with above versions does that mean i'm miles out? i only got it a few months ago & i'm using vodafone (uk) can i download the above file or do i have to apply each version 1 @ a time?
    eeek....please help

I have a problem with my caller id as it doesn't display contact name etc when they call, it just shows the number - it so frustrating not being able to dodge some of 'those' work calls!! i'm hoping upgrading versions will help...any one else with the same problem?

    Many thanks

I have a new ATT phone also. I dont see why anyone would want to update until the 4.3 OS comes out that will allow video capture.

Its on youtube , we are getting video capture soon.

I saw the 4.3 listed on the update website and was hesitant to download it as the original post mentioned 4.2 ... is it safe to download the 4.3?

As we speak, I downloaded and am installing the new software on my BB. Took me 3 times but guess third times the charm! (and that's 3 download attempts)

    Newest Curve 8300 OS from SmarTone-Vodafone - v4.2.2.265 / 4.2.2.146

    Download it from HERE
It's from here on the very first post on this thread. Mind you, this was originally posted some months ago and now it's the end of the year. When I looked in the drop down menu to download both the newer version for my computer AND BB, I saw this listed as the first item in the drop down menu.

hi there. I'm new to the site and the blackberry 8310 as well, and was wondering if anyone could help me with something? I have transfered my pictures to my phone, but when I transfer my music it just doesnt work. For example, when I go to play a song on my phone, a message comes up saying "The media being played is of an unsupported format." help??

that's the desktop software, not os software for the device that allows video capture.
