Software For BlackBerry Curve 8310 (TM)

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.351 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.2.2.351
    Consisting of:
    Applications: 4.2.2.194
    Software Platform: 2.5.0.44
    File name: 8310M_PBr4.2.2_rel351_PL2.5.0.44_A4.2.2.194_TIM.ex e
    File size: 97.25MB

Download from https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...190CAAD5802983 and select 8310 from the list

Here are the instructions for installing:

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.5, download from here
    2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded. (Choose the Curve 8310)
    3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

Have some patience, this could take an hour to complete. DO NOT unplug the device until it is finished!

THIS UPDATE DOES NOT LET YOUR BB RECORD VIDEOS!!

Link takes me to a page that says the site has been moved or no longer exists. What carrier had this OS for the 8310?

Can't get there either. Is it better to load this version, the 4.3.1 beta or just wait for the 4.5? It's soooooo confusing...

This 4.2 version is the ONLY officially released version from RIM or the carriers. 4.3 is not available to the public, and 4.5 could be weeks away.

I'll wait for the "official" version. I don't want any problems with my BB. Thanks!

.194 is faster and smoother than .184 plus it uses slightly less memory and I think they fixed the memory leak I just finished updating 5 8310 BB's.

For any other inveterate OS upgraders

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.3, download from BlackBerry - BlackBerry - Sys Req V4-3
Do you HAVE to use DM 4.3? Will DM 4.2 SP2 work? 4.3 has never been very stable for me.

What are the advantages of upgrading to the New OS for the curve, seems like a lot of work for no noticable gains.
