had a 8310 with 4.5 and i have a 8310 with 4.2 i want to upgrade but my desktop desk top softwear isnt leting me what should i do???????

okay i had a 8310 from the att store and it was 179.99 with 100 back so i saw the same one at best buy for alot cheaper 50 dollors only but the problem is thats its running 4.2 so ive been searching the net everywere and i cant seam to get it to upgrade i have dm 4.6 and i downloded the update from blackberry/att and its not working everytime i conect to dm it says that there are no updates avalible if anyone knows how to fix this problem plz help im going crazy with the 4.2 im starting to regret geting the new one

On your computer go to C:/Program Files/Common/Research In Motion/Apploader and double click the Loader.exe file. See if you can load the OS that way.

I just did an upgrade on someone's AT&T 8310 from 4.2.2.127 (I think) to 4.5.0.110 using DM 4.6 3 days ago w/no problems.

That link was to 4.5.081 which should work, I am not sure why the install is failing......Your on a windows PC, yes?

No 4.6 is fine its VERY stable..... Did the OS actually install or did it fail...... If it failed its a PC issue.......

i got vista and it went through the problem is that DM is not picking up the download and it says there's no software to install to the phone

Are you using win7 by any chance? What are you using as far as OS on your PC? Win7 beta is not compatible.

Well if options>about says 4.2 and its not letting you go to 4.5 I am stumped with what has been tried. I am not sure what the issue is...... Did you uninstall any OS's you had - then try to install 4.5 OS

You might try rebooting your PC then open DM 4.6 but don't connect your BB yet. Pull the battery with your BB on, then connect your BB to the USB then put the battery in your BB.

no i didnot uninstall the os i curentley have on the phone should i and if i do and 4.5 still dose not work can i reinstall the 4.2

Trem meant uninstall any previous OS files on the PC.

I've never heard of ne1 using winrar to unzip the OS files before. I wonder if that's the problem.

I am going to download the OS from his link to see what I get, I am curious - The only thing I have seen in ZIP is the DM, I am thinking this is where his confusion lies....

Oo no i downloaded the os and it has its own installer like if i bought a cd or like if i intalled aim or something like that i didnt need to unzip the file i just downloaded it and clicked install
