Does this mean that my BB is almost full and won't work right anymore? I have a 1g card in and everything but a few pics is on the card. So how come this is so low? (if it is... I may be reading this wrong) Should I be concerned?

I'm curious as to what apps do you have installed, what themes,
do you keep emails and text messages.

18mb free on a device that comes with 96mb installed
    seems quite low to me.

Ya I just realized that as well. Most people are running over 40 mb with apps. Do you have a media card ?

I have a 1g card that I'm *pretty sure* I have all my ringtones and screen savers/pics saved to (except for a few). Not positive though. I'd never used one of those before and it seemed simple. Maybe I got it wrongly set up? Hmm.

    I have 9 themes.
Viigo, CB launcher button, a purchased flashlight app, my local news button, and google and yahoo updater buttons.
    That's all I can see.
Oh, I have about 30 emails, no texts, no mms.

9 themes? That is where most of your
memory has gone. Themes have notoriously large footprints.

Personally I never keep more than 2 at a time on my device,
and memory is the reason why.

To test that theory, check your memory then uninstall any 3, reboot
your BB and check your memory again.

In lieu of a battery pull, try this:

    Soft reset: press alt+right shift+del

Double soft reset: press alt+right shift+del, when the screen turns white, press alt+right shift+del again.

These are deemed to be safer than a battery pull. JeffH can explain why.

Ok. So far I've deleted 3 or 4 themes. I did not know they were huge. :-0
    Then did the soft reset.
    Now my stuff says:

    33159048 Bytes free
    83623936 Bytes total

    Better. Maybe its just themes?
Whew! My daughter says I always think technology is farther advanced than it is. LOL
That's just because I'm amazed at what "they" can do these days- and that, just in the last 5 years or so!

Good deal! Definitely the themes, but I wanted you to see
    the effect for yourself.

And I hear ya on the tech issue

Ok. So now I'm down to 3 themes. I can't make myself get rid of just 1 more. Haha (I love all 3 and rotate them frequently)

Here is what I've got now:
    34946592 Bytes free

Is that still too low for what is on my phone? Does "device memory" mean my memory card or my BB memory?

No, you are good. You picked up an additional 16mb.

Device memory is the BB memory which is completely
    independent of the memory card.
