I am completely in love with my bb 8310 but it went nuts lately: it looks like the trackball is being "pressed" by itself!

So, the device is sending emails, smss or calls someone if the mark is on that specific icon. I am keeping it on "lock" icon so it keeps locking itself and activating that...

Soft reset, hard reset... done it all. Any solutions?

Try popping out the trackball and cleaning it using alcohol.

I even took the trackball out while the device is on and it still does the same thing! Looks serious to me...
Any help or should I go and get another one?

If cleaning it does not free up the microswitch, you may have to replace the trackball assembly.
