My assessment of Verizon Curve 8330 vs. AT&T Bold
- Hi all,
I've been using both the Verizon Curve 8330 and the AT&T Bold for the past few days, trying to make a decision on which one to get. Here are my pros and cons of each.
Curve:
Better trackball (Bold trackball is "soft" and is recessed too far into the device)
Better network (Verizon has the best coverage in the US)
Better battery life
Better pre-installed software (comes with a "Today" screen, BB Maps...Bold comes with a lot of software I'll never use)
Better sound quality (based on what someone on the other end said)
When talking into the Curve, I can hear my voice in the earpiece, can't hear myself on the Bold - not sure what the technical term for this is.
Smaller
I like the included case better than the clip on holster that the Bold comes with
Bold:
Much better screen!
Better keyboard
Cooler looking
Has a cool clock
Better camera
WiFi
3G and all that fancy stuff that doesn't really matter to me - I don't notice much of a speed difference while browsing.
Coverage in my home and office are roughly equivalent for the two. Verizon sounds better but drops calls. AT&T gives me echo sometimes but at least I haven't dropped any calls.
I'm leaning toward keeping the Curve...I bet I'd be in the minority, based on how many people gush about the Bold. Any thoughts?

Mike01-29-09 09:10 PMLike 0 - keep your curve i love mine apps galore also the vz nav is the bomb find just about any place you want also i hve online banking on my phone which is nice to until my contract ends then may get veri bold when it comes out01-30-09 12:19 AMLike 0
- FYI, the VZW Curve runs on a 3G network, that is what the 1XEV signal represents on it. Its a bit slower than the GSM 3G, but still 3G. I would keep the curve, its a great device, and I believe its a bit cheaper, if that is a factor at all for you. Its a great bang for the buck device.01-30-09 12:26 AMLike 0

- I got the 8330 curve from sprint and I'm absolutely satisfied with it. Bold, Storm, and Javelin are all nice in their own way but I don't see any of them tearing me away from my Curve.

I'm $ure that will come when you get out...
Plus, you kinda get a lifelong feeling of pride having served that, unfortunately, a lot of people never get to feel.
I would be coming up on my 30 if I would've stayed in, and really my only regret was not re-enlisting at least once, at the time I was in a hurry to close that chapter and get on with my life.01-30-09 08:15 AMLike 0
