Considering it is an option that only appears if you password protect your device and enable content protection, I would say that most don't even know about it to turn it on.
Of those that do know about it, I can safely assume that they mostly have it turned on. It can't hurt anything, and it only makes your Berry safer and frees up bits of precious memory.
