HI all, i was reading a buyers guide for blackberry phones and noticed that the expandable memory from sprints 8330 is different from that of the 8330 from verizon. How can this be when both phones are the same? CONFUSED here. Can someone explain this to me?

"Expandable memory" would be a media card - internal memory cannot be changed, anf the media card is just that: a place to store media and files.

The difference is likely due to the OS offered on the device. To wit:

The following table lists BlackBerry Device Software versions and the supported media card size.
OS 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
OS 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
OS 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
OS 4.2.2.196 Up to 8 GB
OS 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
OS 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
OS 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
OS 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB

    possibly a stupid question..

when you hold alt+shift+H, and look at your app version..is that the OS you're running?

    mine reads: 4.6.1.286...therefore, i could use a 32gb card?

The old OS on the VZW was dated quite a bit. The OS would only handle an 8gig card.

Sprint was using the .131 subversion, which allows for the 16GB card.

RHP- when they come available. For now, like everyone else, you're gonna be twiddling your thumbs.

Pretty sure 16G is the biggest that is manufactured as of now. And those are almost $50.
