Ok will someone direct or share with me what is meant by a phone being Locked. I'm in the market of purchasing a new phone from Colorware (curve 8330/ Sprint) to add as a second phone to my acct. they say the phone is Locked... what does that mean and will I be able to add it to my current Sprint acct.?

    Thanks for the assistance

BlackBerry sells their products directly to carriers. The carries insist on products that are "locked" to their networks.

They will subsidize the price, usually by 50%, because they know you will be buying their service.

Unlocking a phone means no longer being committed to just one carrier. Most carriers recognize the valid need to do that when traveling internationally, but some do not.

If your carrier will not provide an unlock code, Rogers for example, you will have to resort to the high priced unlocking code service companies.
