As you may know, when you hit the "escape" key, you do not close an application. The only way that can be done is by accessing the menu for the app and choosing "Close" at the bottom of the list. Based on that, here are my questions.

Is there a way to close an app quickly (similar to the "Close" method above) without having to access the menu?

Is there a way to get a list of all "running" applications? As of now, the only way to do this is to visit each one at a time to make sure they're properly closed.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry to say, this is the sort of thing you'd get with a Windows device. BlackBerry device don't get 'locked up' per se' with too many applications running...

But, check here, you might find a shortcut of some sort, albeit, I doubt it...

Most of the time if you use the 'escape' key it actually closes the app. If you use the red phone button it leaves the app running. You can view what apps are running at any given time by pressing the menu button from the home screen and selecting "Switch Application." You'll see all the open apps. There are 5 basic ones that always run and can't be shut down: BBMessenger, Home Screen, Mail, Phone and Browser.
