I upgraded my phone and my husband's just last night. I had read all of the posts and was a little bit scared because I really don't know what I'm doing. I downloaded the 4.6 desktop manager onto my computer from blackberry.com At the desktop manager I backed up my phone, this included third party apps (themes, games, etc.) Then I went back to blackberry.com and said that I wanted to upgrade to the newest software for my phone. In the process of upgrading all of my info was saved again. When I finished I still had all of my themes, games, and 3rd party apps that I have paid for over the few months I've owned my berry. Not a single problem. It does take about 2 hours and do not unplug until it tells you you can. I finished 4 loads of laundry while waiting. Cool thing - I now have a video camera and a flashlight.
