So,... I've read a few posts regarding prices for handsets and contracts and I was curious as to how they compare to the prices here in Good Old Blighty!!

I'm looking at my next option to upgrade and a store near me is offering the Curve 8900 on O2 with a price plan including 600 minutes, 1000 texts, data plan, all for 35 a month. The handset is free and it is an 18 month contract.

How does this compare with USA/Canadian prices??

I calculate that to be about $49. That's pretty cheap. My T-Mobile (US) monthly bill of +/- $104.00 includes 700 minutes per month family plan with MyFaves, no texting, an additional line (3 total) and my full Blackberry Plan. Base charges are $99.97 + taxes and extras (texting, 411, etc.).

The free handset is an even better deal.

That's actually good because any US carrier you go to you will have to pay atleast 20 dollars for a blackberry plan, not including sprint..

Plus most US companys want a 2 year contract for you to get a decent deal on the phone. Sounds like a good plan to me

That's a good price. Tmobile wants $200 for the newest curve with a new contract. I'm paying $62/month for unlimited data and maybe 500? minutes?

Yeah here in the US and Canada there is no such thing as a free handset (unless its a cheap dumbphone) or an 18 month contract.

Guess we have it lucky here! Not to make you all green with envy but, my husband had his 8320(free handset) in october for 45 a month, including data, unlimited texts, 700 minutes with Orange. And 150 cash back there and then in the store!!
