- When you do a wipe using JL_Cmder (option 4) does it give you a confirmation saying that "The device is wiped" or "Device wipe confirmed" or something???? I used it to wipe my dead red light flashing BB 8310 but as soon as the red light blinks the JL_Cmder looses its connection to the BB and goes back to the main menu screen....
Please Help????
Frustrated BB user................
Thanks...10-14-08 03:55 PMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorYour phone screen will shortly say Error 507. This means that the wipe has worked and you BlacKBerry now has no Operating System.
You now need to load your OS. Get CrackMem from my signature. It will help you a lot. Make sure that you read the Help text too. It has lots of helpful upgrade information and links. CrackMem is free.10-14-08 04:07 PMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorHmmm. What did CrackMem say? It should report the OS versions installed in the LH panel. If there are zero OSs installed, you need to install an OS for your phone.
CrackMem is designed for exactly the sort of problems you have so please stick with it and we can get you back up and running again.
You MUST HAVE Desktop Manager installed before any of this can work. Do you have it?10-14-08 04:38 PMLike 0 - Thanks.... But I already have 4.5 installed and before that DM was installed 4.6, when i load CrackMe its asked to select the OS and confirm... ones I confirmed the OS I selected Wipe Device option and type in "BrickMyPhone". After 3 or 4 seconds the Application Loader Wizard opens up.... when I follow the steps at the the same error message pops up "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation."10-15-08 12:17 AMLike 0
- Pete6Retired ModeratorNow, at least we know what is happeneing. There is a thread on just your problem http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/unab...eration-73368/.
As you can see, no one seems to know what the problem really is. RIM have published this BlackBerry Search Results which is worth a read. I also found this 2nd article that may also help
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/searc...00%20195400569. Both RIM articles sem to blame the USB and insufficient battery power. I am inclined to agree with this theory.
Here is what I reccomend you do.
- pull the battery out of the BlackBerry for a couple of minutes.
- uninstall Desktop Manager, reboot your PC and install v4.6 with no media manager from here https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22.
- make sure that the mini-USB cable you are using is in good condition. Swap it for another one if you can - just to try.
- connect your BlackBerry to a different USB port that is directly connected to the PC and not via a hub.
- use CrackMem to remove the Vendor.xml file - an essential step.
- use CrackMem to wipe the phone again.
- press the red hangup key once a second immediately you action the wipe operation. Keep pressing it until Loader starts and the phone connects. You may have to help the connection proces in the little COM1, USB box.
If all this does not fix the problem then, you need a specialist repair shop.
Where are you located geographically?
I sent my Curve to BlackBerry Repair Shop - A full line of RIM BlackBerry repair services and BlackBerry parts for all BlackBerry handheld devices in Houston, TX and they turned it round in 24 hours.
I really hope that we can get your phone back again.
If the above fixes the problem. PLEASE let us know back here as we have all been trying to fix this problem for a long time.Last edited by Pete6; 10-15-08 at 03:29 AM.
10-15-08 03:17 AMLike 0 - Hey Pete6 I tried it just as you have mentioned.... When the OS loaded to the device... and at the time of rebooting the device came on with a hour glass for 3 or 4 seconds and went back to the blinking red light.... it lost the connection with the PC....
I think we are getting there ! ! ! ! ! Hope your instructions will get the device to reboot....
I will try it again.... Fingers crossed ! ! ! ! !10-15-08 07:48 AMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorI had this happen to me several months ago and I spent the whole of a Saturday morning trying to get it to work. I must have Wiped the device 20-30 times and done any number of installs and uninstalls until suddenly it worked and, I am still not sure what or why it began functioning.
Later I read the RIM stuff and it kinda made sense.
I am sorry to be using you as a pioneer but you are, at least motivated to make your phone work again
One last thought. Try the whole process on a dufferent PC if you have access to one.10-15-08 09:12 AMLike 0
