I have the little envelope at the top of my screen and there's the red star on my icon for my email but I definitely do not have any new unread messages.... any suggestions, please?

Do a battery pull first. See if that works.

or just wait until you do get a message and see if it goes away. The LED should stop blinking after 15 min, if it doesnt do a bettery pull to save a bit of battery life.

To the OP, I've had the exact same thing going on since yesterday and it's been driving me crazy. I've only had the BB since last Wednesday (my first one), so I'm still learning how to use it.

All that being said, I followed jtran91's idea for doing a battery pull and guess what? The little envelope is gone!

Some times that happens to me and it's super annoying. I usually end up realizing it's an email I haven't switched over to 'Read'.
