i was so pissed off yesterday. The trackball on my 8300 gave out, this was my third replacement phone. Well I felt much better after I got off the phone with warranty exchange. There sending me a 8310!!! hopefully i wont have any problems with this one!!!
I should be getting it on friday......gotcha, but I mean since its a diff bb than its a diff pin so Can i send them all a request to accept me on there device at the same time
when i switched from 8300 to 8310, i did a back up and used the switch device wizard then i did a restore, all my pin contacts were saved and i did not have to re add anyone

Did your contacts have to change their PIN info for you since you were on a different device with new PIN?

Sounds good but how about when they try to send me a message and i havent sent them one after i switched phones?
they also did not have to do anything, i pinned someone using the new 8310 and they got it, i never did anything else. once i restored it all the contacts came, and its been working properly ever since

Im not doubting you but How can they send you a message without having your new pin and without you sending them a message first?!
That's what I thought. Changing PINs would be like changing phone numbers. If you don't give your contacts the new phone number they couldn't call you. Stands to reason the same would apply to a PIN
lol once i did the restore all my pin contacts were already there. i pinned someone and they answered, i didnt have to do anything extra.
once i did the switch device wizard, it had erased all my contacts. but when i did the restore, all my contacts were there and i pinned them with no problem
If you backup and restore to your new device, you will not have to request anyone, you can just message the contact, it will go right through, and it will automatically add you to their list, but as a new contact. They wouldnt be able to message you first, but you dont need to delete and request, you can just message them. I switched BBs a lot for a while, and thats how i did it. You just message them saying This is my new PIN, Delete the old name you have, All they have to do is remove the old name you used and that is all. Good Luck with your new BB!!!!
