A couple posts before the BB.com post I posted it from one of the forums. Do a wipe of your BB before you d/l 4.2 so it gets rid of 4.5 before trying to overwrite.
Still don't get why you NEED to downgrade....

searching now. I've seen it in a couple threads, never had to do it myself. Are you only trying to downgrade because of Rintone volume?

Here is the info on how to do it with a storm. I don't know if it is similar but I'll keep looking. Or if you can use that string to find the upgrade/downgrade in help for Curve.

also saw this thread which mentions a program to use to wipe it, try this...but read the warnings...be careful.

Did you go into the profiles and make sure that the sounds are set to High? If you recently upgraded to 4.5 then the profiles could have been reset.

Another thing you might try is running a 4.5 hybrid OS. It really sucks going backwards!

I really doubt a hybrid solution is going to do you any good here.

If you use custom mp3 ringtones, you can just use Audacity or mp3 Gain to increase the volume of the ringtone file. In Audacity it is the gain setting that you want to increase. It is indicated in +dB for decibels. Adjust the gain of the mp3 file, then save it to your media card.

After doing this, I can leave my Profile on Normal, when Loud was too soft previously.

a second post on the same topic....I still don't understand why you are wanting 4.2, when 4.5.110 is the latest official release from AT&T. Some other copious reason maybe?
