Wireless Internet routers work on completely different frequencies, and have nothing to do with cell phone coverage.
I bought a zBoost YX510 Dual Band Repeater Kit about a year ago, and have been fairly happy with it. Ran the antenna up into the attic. There are some nooks in my home/office where signal is poor, but for the most part it's been good.
The antenna must be in an area where SOME signal is available. It won't work otherwise.
At the time, femtocells from carriers weren't available.
I have the same YX510 and it works like a charm. The antenna is mounted up on the roof where my phone gets about 4 bars and the base station is downstairs where service is very scarce. Now I have full service for calling and EVDO for internet!
