so i reinstalled version 4.3. downloaded BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.338 (Chinese). deleted vendor.xml file. plugged in my phone and opened up dm and i dont get "You should be prompted to upgrade." no promt.

maybe its cuz ur putting in version 4.3. isnt that supposed to be in beta for the curve? try installing 4.2

Nope, I use 4.3 since it came out. Tho trying 4.2 sp2 might not be a bad idea!

I would definately remove DM 4.3 and install 4.2 sp2, and also remove the O.S. and re-install that as well.

That doesn't have anything to do with it. You have to delete the Vender.xml file and it will work on any curve.

i tried 4.2 and reinstalling my os and it still didnt work. i still dont understand how doing all this will allow me to download bbmessenger. im going into att tomorrow to request a new phone. its been past 30 days but theres no harm in asking. bbmessenger was a large reason as to why i bought the curve and now i dont even get it back.

This may be a dumb question, but couldn't he add BB messenger though the application loader via DM? Also, what App version is currently installed on his BB?

Actually I just found this thread and thought it may help you out. He explains it better than I, but it's generally what I was thinking. Its definitely worth a read... Let me know if it helps.

I work for AT&T and I don't want to sound "Negative" but they more then likely do nothing, and that sucks! Tho I don't make the rules. I'm gunna tell ya, I have never heard of anything like this before. All I can say is keep us posted!

yeah i just went in to att and all they did was say "oh snap, that sucks, heres the number for bb support"

if anybody else needs the number its 18774223779. theyre closed on sundays so ill call back tomorrow.

its a shame they dont provide insurance for these phones.
