In another post someone told me that 4gb was a good place to start. when I purchased my chip the guy at verizon said this was PLENTY. If this isnt enough, how many Gb's are a smart thing to get?

Get as large a card as your OS supports and you can afford.

Depends on what you are planning to save on it. <-- Best statement made. Why go overboard if you'll never use it?

Now, Staples has 8GB on sale for $30 right now. So, as opposed to the 4GB for $30, I'd say why not? However, if it's a price thing for you, get what you will need, not what is the highest compatible card for your phone.

    Just my $0.000000002 worth.

I went ahead and went with an 8. And I didn't even pay $30 for mine.

I used a site called pricewatch.com. Its kinda like Overstock but focus more on tech.

In the last 2 years I've bought both an 8G micro SD and an 8G flash driver for about $30. Give it a try. You never know.

I say go for 4 or 8. I only use mine for pictures and some docs I like to carry, so I have 2 gb, and that's plenty for me. I got mine on sale at buy.com for like 2 bucks shipped.

I would say go for the largest your pocket can afford. I am running a 16GB card and have it about 3/4 full with music. I can go for along time in my car with out hearing the same song twice. At home i have over 600GB music or 65000+ songs. It's nice to be able to listen to music and only have to change it once every 2-3 weeks.

With this size it still allows me space for pictures as well.
