Just curious as I have an 8310 that I got the first week in December. I frequently pick up my phone to see that I have new messages, but there was no blinking red light to alert me. Other times I look and the red light is working. Does it only blink for a limited amount of time or is it supposed to blink forever, until I pick up the phone?

Yes, it blinks for about 15 minutes after last event (call or message).
Most likely to conserve power, even though LEDs don't use a lot of juice.

My 8330, running 4.5.077 stops blinking after a while... I never timed it, but it does stop eventually.

Mine will be blinking away come morning with messages that have come in overnight -- maybe its a carrier setting?

Mine will stop as well. Never timed it but email that comes in late isn't blinking in the morning. Find it quite annoying actually. I will have to look into that BB Alerts tho it doesn't seem right to have to purchase an app for this sorta thing.

Actually, I'm glad it doesn't blink forever... sometimes I just don't care if there is a message waiting
