My sister has a 8320 from T-Mobile, and she's trying to compose using PIN but it's not going through. Does she need to have a Data plan? I have Sprint. Does anyone know how it works? Obviously I'm new to the Blackberry world, but so far I enjoy my 8330. Can someone please help me?

Every BB device has a PIN assigned to it. It's a unique HARDWARE identifier. RIM's network allows you to send direct PIN-to-PIN messages between BBs. You absolutely MUST have a BlackBerry-specific data plan in order to use PIN messaging. BlackBerry Messenger uses PIN messaging to allow you to chat with other BB users only. It does not interface with any other chat service. Search the FAQ/How-To forum for a great thread on how to use BBM, and also the BlackBerry 101 lecture series. Enjoy!
