Sometimes I get an email attachment that doesn't give me the "open attachment" option??? It shows there is an attachment with a paper clip image next to it and below that another paper clip with winmail.dat whats that? I know it's a picture because I sent it to myself? is it to big of a file size?

Ok - I'm not sure if this has something to do with it...BUT... I have Outlook 2007 when I send myself a pic or pdf i have no "open document" option so I can't open an attachment. My wife has Outlook 2003 on her laptop and when I send myself a pic or pdf from her computer I get the "open attachment" option. Any ideas on this????

In your email, select your menu button, open attachment. Depending on size you might see a clock while it is downloading. Once it is downloaded you can go back to the attachment with out any problem. I open 2,3,4 sheet pdf's all the time.

On your BB. Go to options-applications. Do you have "BlackBerry Attachment Services" installed?

ok... this is what I have determined... when I send myself an attachment from my pc to my BB in HTML mode I can't open it. If I send it in the plain text option, I can open it. Not sure why, but all of you that are having this issue please try it and see if that allows you to see your attachments - I'm curious to see.

I have Outlook 2003 and have the same problem (for attachments of any file type).

When someone sends me an attachment I can open it fine. If I use my webmail app I can send myself an attachment and open it fine. But when I use my PC with Outlook 2003 to send myself an attachment the attachment is converted to a "winmail.dat" file on my Curve and I do not have the "Open Attachment" option. Changing the email from HTML to Plain Text solves the problem for me. Maybe this will be resolved when BB starts using HTML email?

Since I only have this problem when I send myself emails from my home PC, this workaround is viable for me. Thanks!

I have the same problem. It happens a lot when a friend of mine sends me pictures from her gmail account.
