How do i access my media card in the blackberry?
- chaz_cbRetired Forums ModeratorWithout a 3rd party app, you can't install from the Media Card. .jad files are for OTA (Over The Air) installation of apps. You'll need to either navigate to the site with the file from the BB browser and click the link from there, or go to the site from a computer, and email the link to your BB.07-23-08 10:39 AMLike 0

Actually you can.
Menu button - media - menu button - explore - then locate and click on the JAD file. It will begin the installation process as if it was OTA.07-23-08 10:44 AMLike 0 - when i do that all i get is music, pictures ringtones and video folders? You'll have to look in all the folders for it unless you remember which folder you put it in. I usually mnake sure I put the file in either pictures or documents.
Also, make sure you are in the media card folder rather than device memory.07-23-08 10:55 AMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorAs bettyn100 says, the file must be unzipped first. You can do this on a BlackBerry if you have the right piece of software installed. But I bet you do not have this.
I am confused. WHy?
.jad files are designed to be installed Over The Air (OTA). This means that you go to the web site, click on it and it downloads and installs. By its nature, an OTA file cannot be zipped. If it is, it cannot OTA install.
.jad files often (but not always) need other resources to install. Mostly these come in the form of a .cod file which is usually kept on the download site. If your .jad file needs this then it will nevr install.
CrackBerry is aplace where there is a good deal of experience and expertise for BlackBerrys. It would be easier for you to say 'I am triing to install application xyz, and I am having trouble.'. This would result in all the other users of this app rushing to your aid. So, what is the appname your are working with? Which website did you download from?

Oh yeah, you're right! I'm so used to just installing off the media card that I forgot the JAD file needs the COD or JAR file.07-23-08 11:30 AMLike 0
