I left my phone on my dresser for about ah hour, when I come back, there is a white screen with the hourglass rotating on it... I let it go for like 20 minutes then do a battery pull. Upon re-start, the hourglass stayed on for like 5 or 6 minutes and then the phone worked fine. Does anyone know what's up with this? Thanks!

If I were you I would remove the battery cover and remove the battery while the hour glass is visable.
Now, replace the battery and cover.
If this does not cure the problem you should call AT&T for a replacement @ 800-801-1101.
They usually send a replacement and have you return the broken unit in the same box the replacement bb arrived in.
    Good luck....

There is a long process that you can use to get this worked out. It just takes some time and repitition. I have had this happen to two different models, the 8800 recently as last night. Both are up and running
The process is posted on another bb forum so I do not want to get in trouble by posting an outside link. PM me and I will give the info

I am a Sprint Blackberry Advanced Technical Support Specialist. The best thing for the "hourglass of doom" is to reload the handheld software, third party software is not recomended on your blackberry because you can't get any tech help from blackberry or your carrier for the reason that it has not been tried and tested. If reloading the handheld software does not stop the spining hourglass of death, then the device needs replaced because it is a device issue not a software glich... also, it is normal for the hourglass to last several minutes after power cycling (either a battery pull(hard reset) or by turning the device off. only worry about the hourglass if it last more than 10 - 15 minutes or if it is coming up while the device is already on...
