Will it damage the trackball if you click down on it and scroll at the same time? Thanks

nope, there is a piece of aluminum between the ball and the selector button

oh ok....i clicked the ball down and scrolled to the left at the same time thinking it would allow me to select text...and it sort of felt funny..just wanted to make sure i didnt damage it in the process

You can also use the shift key and the trackball to select large portions of text.
