The latest 4.5 OS for the 8330 is 4.5.0.186. Then there are Boost Mobile's 5.0.0.438 and the 5.0 hybrid's based off the Boost Mobile 5.0 OS.

My 8330 shows V4.5.077 as the OS release.....or am I reading something wrong?

That is a valid, older 8330 OS version. If you've had your 8330 for a year or more and never updated it, that version would make sense.

Yep, that OS version is 2 versions old. After 4.5.0.77 there was 4.5.0.138, then the current 4.5.0.175 for official Verizon OS software for the 8330.

When you connect your BB to desktop manager to backup your stuff, it will notify you that updated software is available.

You do backup your BB, don't you? I'm beginning to think you don't ...

Whats the difference between the 4.5 and the boost 5.0 software?

Main differences are better, faster browser, clock app, bedside mode, and threaded SMS.

If you want to try the 5.0 OS, I recommend the 5.0 hybrid that has been shrunk down for you. Otherwise, 5.0 is a big fat memory hog.

Where do i find the 5.0 hybrid at? Is it safe to use or is it gonna screw up the phone? I heard the 5.0 has a memory leak although not sure i fully understand what that means

i dont know about verizon but on my sprint 8330 i have the boost 5.0 loaded and it doesnt use up much memory. also with the boost 5.0 when you go into your media to look at pictures youve taken once u enlarge a photo you can scroll left or right with the track ball to see all of your photos at full screen size and there is no lag.
