ok here goes:

MY carrier is att. I have a blackberry curve 8310. And yes M a newbie. Been studying how to change from 4.2 to 4.5 for a few weeks now. I started the process today. Using posts on proper procedure from this site I sucessfully backed up third party apps and wiped my old version from the device. Yesterday I contacted att service and downloaded and saved to my pc the official version 4.5.
When i attempt to unpack the apploader so that my bb desktop app loader will recognise and transfere the data, I get an error, - 1316 network error occured while trying to read the file. Please help as i am sitting here with a totally blank phone.

You're information sounds a little confusing. You are getting an error when you are installing 4.5 to your PC? Is that the only thing the error message says or does it say more than you you said?

I have downloaded the 0s 4.5 to my pc yesterday. It is when i try to open it is when the error occurs. It says, " Error 1316. A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C: (then it just lists the path). It seems this is a web based upgrade from att.

AT&T hasnbt officially released OS 4.5, so what they probably sent you was OS 4.2. You can always just delete that folder and what not and re-install it. Or you can check for the post somewhere on here for OS 4.5.0.81. I've been running it flawlessly for 2 weeks now.

4.5.0.93 is the latest and very stable.

keep in mind that .93 is beta and a few people have found viruses in the installers
