- So . . .I have had my Curve from Verizon for a couple months now. I purchased off a guy on craigslist, i know, i know. . .but, it does seem VERY legit, ESN was clean, he gave me all original packaging materials, and even his original purchase receipt (I still have all of these). I have had it synced to my Mac using pocket mac as long as i've had it, but today thought it would be a good idea to quickly sync it to my old PC in order to recover all my old contacts from a broken Palm Treo that were in Outlook. I downloaded the desktop software, and began to try to set things up. Thats were it went wrong.
At some point it asked me for my USB Pin (i think thats what it said). Well, i tried my normal handheld password, and that obviously did not work. Not knowing better (believe me I do now), I just entered the wrong password 10 times "to see what would happen." Well, when it said that it was errasing data, i disconnected. Then on my handset it asked for my password. Thinking it now wanted my handset password, I entered that and it erased everything and left me with the JVM 513 Error Reset screen. I so far have not been able to get anything i've found on the internet to work.
Summary:
Main Issue:
JVM 513
Sub-Issues:
Still don't know the USB Pin or whatever that password is (seems to be . required still to use the PC Desktop Software for a restore/rest)
Don't have any info backed up on PC to restore to.
PocketMac on MacBook will no longer Sync/Recognize the Phone.
Help would be GREATLY!!! appreciated.

After typing an incorrect password ten times and restarting the BlackBerry smartphone, the following error appears:
JVM error 513
Cause
All of the data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone have been deleted.
Resolution
Re-install BlackBerry Device Software on the BlackBerry smartphone and restore the data from a backup file (if available).10-19-08 04:47 PMLike 0 - Thank you for your help, but I am unclear on how to re-install the software without that password. Also, as I had never used the desktop software before, my device isn't listed in the "Select a Device List" and as it is locked out (i believe this is the reason) it is not recognizing it on its own.10-19-08 05:15 PMLike 0
- Do you have the desktop manager installed? What version of the OS did you have on the device?
The offical release is 4.3 from VZW and can be downloaded from Blackerry OS VZW You install this and hookit up to the computer and it takes over from there. If this fails, since you bought it from craigs list VZW will not replace it.
If you have 4.5 on it 4.3 will not install either. There is a link here on how to recover a bricked device. Might search for that.

10-19-08 05:19 PMLike 0 - Yes, I have the desktop software installed, that idea is what prompted all of this, haha. I've been to the link listed, clicked on the "personal e-mail' option and then followed the directions, but something isn't working. Does this need to be done from my BB on on the comp., b/c i do not have my blackberry connected to the internet package? Also, i believe i have the 4.3 software as i have not updated it.10-19-08 05:36 PMLike 0
- OK, I just wanted to clarify, though i'm sure many of you are already aware. . .I'm an *****!! The magical password i couldn't find was in fact my handhelf password, i had just convinced myself in my head it was a series of letters then a number, though i was not actually pushing the Alt key. Therefore, it was actually the series of letters, plus one more letter. I appologize for the was of space, but do appreciate lastraids help.
Shamefully,
