I am new to my BB Curve and I had set a password on my bb, because I have 3 very nosy kids and they attempted to figuire out my password and failed. When I seen my bb it displayed "wiping". What is my BB all wiping out?? Will I lose everything? Contacts, email? Help!

Yup you lost everything! It gives you a certain amount of tries to get the password right, then it'll wipe everything if tries are failed. So say you lose your BB, someone finds it and tries different passwords, when it fails and wipes, the thief doesn't have access to your personal info. Just a safety feature!

You should ground your kids! j/k

If you had a backup you'll be ok. If not its gonna be just like it came out of the box.

Uh oh. This is why I always recommend to people on here to do a full backup whenever possible. I do a full backup almost everyday. Only takes about 2 minutes to backup. The restore takes about 5-10 minutes. Well worth the time.

You can turn off the password feature, you can't turn off the wipe after failed password attempts.

Hopefully you made a back up lately. If you did, just plug it in to DM and restore it back on there.

Does backing up your information to your desktop manager save contacts from your address book? Just curious, I was thinking of making a spreadsheet with all my contacts because I have lost them one time already... (I lost them on another phone, not my blackberry)

Indeed it does (unless you deselected it under advanced).
