When I open up Maps, and click on "Start GPS Navigation" it just sits on "Searching for Sattelites" It won't go any further. Am I missing something?
I have a feeling I am..... Any help would be awesome.
I tried that, at about the 8 min mark it stopped and just shows 0's for Latitude/ Longitude etc.... BTW, it shows "Device GPS" for the GPS data source. Is this what it should be?
Then with the BB powered ON, remove the battery, replace and reboot. When it powers on again, try the Options GPS to find some sats and see what happens.
I had a similar issue and this is what I did. I'm not saying this will work, because it makes no sense why it worked for me. I installed Yahoo Go and refreshed the GPS and it showed my location. Again, this could have been an anomoly, but it worked for me. Good luck and I hope you get it to work.
Guys, I'm really stuck! I cannot find a solution anywhere.
i cannot get a signal at all. Anyone able to help point me the right way?
Anything else other than what I did above I will take....
Thank you.
My 8310 GPS just worked out of the box when I installed google maps and did the refresh GPS option. However before I got the curve I found this link and thought I would have to follow the steps here.
I had the same problem. I called my service provider and there was something missing from my account. After speaking to the rep. I restarted the phone and my GPS came to life.
When you download Blackberry Maps, there is a notation that it will not work on the AT&T network. I guess this due to the fact that the AT&T 8310 comes with TeleNav. However it works with mine. It does not work on a friend's AT&T 8310. I might just be lucky.
Well you said you have the 8310 right? Does gps exist on that model because I thought they put the gps on the 8320 and up (for the curve)
8320=wifi, no built in GPS. But you can connect a GPS puck through bluetooth
8310=buit in GPS, no wifi.
OP, if you are still under warranty, I suggest you get a new one. I can only think of 2 reasons why your GPS is not working, either software, or internal hardware problems. I just recently received a 8310 from rogers and GPS worked straight out of the box. So you shouldn't have to be troubleshooting these kinds of issues.
