Should I have my firewall enabled or does it matter

I would recommend keeping it enabled just so your device is that much more secure.

When you install/download 3rd party apps, you'll be asked if you want to allow access for that app (the first time you use it). If you accidently click 'disallow', you can reset your firewall so you'll be asked again and can allow the access.

Make sure you're using application Permissions and not the actual "Firewall" under Security Options. That will just block whatever you have checked.
