Ok I purchased the 8330 from Verizon. I have already taken off the useless crap and i tne mist of removing the themes. However I know that you to keep at least 2 themes on the phone for it to display other themes. That's where I draw a complete blank. I've looked over ~How to Free Up Memory~ but the themes they give to remove are for T-mobile and can't tell which I can remove for Verizon. If you could just tell me exactly which OS theme I can remove so the phone can function that would be great.

I just removed the carrier theme, I suggest you leave the others on there, for a platform for any themes you decide to download, to make them work properly.

You have an 8330, which has more out of box memory than gsm, its not going to hurt your memory AT all to leave on those 3 or 4.

In crackmem, just remove Carrier theme,

I believe the only one that absolutely has to stay is the BBDimension Zen.

Any theme other than the BBDimension themes are carrier themes.

Ive kept my dimension, L, Today, Zen and Icon..

As Ive read, I have seen people taking these off and its screws things up, I did take off the tmobile theme.

She doesnt NEED to take any of the stock themes off, she has a ton more memory to begin with, so its not going to make a bit of difference regardless.

VZW's Vendor ID is 105 so if you want to keep the VZW theme then just delete all the other carrier themes that don't have the number 105 on them.

I just realised where she is looking for *numbers*

The easiest thing to do is to get crackmem, and take off the carrier theme in there.

You can, but as I said, I personally wouldnt,

I also only keep 1-2 third party themes on mine,

I'd *personally* leave them alone. - they are not affecting your memory as much as your downloaded 3rd party themes.

Rachel0179 is right if you delete the BBDimension themes your third party themes might not work. If you decide to delete them do not delete the BBDimension Zen that one has to stay. The L theme might have to stay too, I'm not sure I know that with OS v4.2 the Zen theme had to stay 4.2 didn't have the L theme.

After I wrote that information, several member contributed feed back and I have updated the Tips about themes.

It is not a good idea to remove any of the preinstalled BlackBerry Themes. The majority of optional themes depend on them for resources. The amount of memory saved is small, but the theme related issues that result are huge.

Vendor themes on the other hand can range from great (T-Mobile Zen) to truly ugly (Rogers default). Removing them is optional and quite simple.

Thanks Reed, I learned awhile back not to remove the stock BB themes from you. If i remember correctly the factory ringtones are apart of the OS as well right?

That's good to know, but I removed the Today and Icon themes and haven't had any issues, of course I don't fool with any third party themes.

Should I put the themes back on?

I as well wanted to remove the ringtones but thought about it. The themes I of course never use so I was going to chuck them.
