I updated to the 4.5 os, but I lost everything; contacts,pics, ringtones, wallpapers, bookmarks...everything. I have the bacup on my pc. Is there anyway to open the backup without putting it back on my phone so that I can send myself some of this stuff?

Did you do a back up prior to the update? Also there should have been an option to a back up during the upgrade. Mute point now. But restore your back up that you do have though the DM backup/restore option.
No you cannot open the back up on the computer, but though the Backup restore option you can go in advanced options and bring back over what you like.
