I have a VZW Curve 8330, running 4.5.0.131. I have gone in to my email settings and told it to automatically download images for HTML email, However I still have to right click on an html email and say download images. What good is this option if I still have to tell it to download images.

Did I do miss something, or are others seeing this as well.

For security reasons, you will always need to explicitly grant permissions to download external links because that exposes information on your device to the external server. The "automatic" download refers to images embedded in the email.

OK, but Im not talking about links. I am talking about pictures

If the pics are not embedded they are still external links.
