Last wed, during my reg sked backup i got an error message. It only said error backing up device - nothing else. I looked through the help section of dm but found no info for my specific problem. I waited a day, deleted the gwhiz note/calc/flash card bundle (since it was the only cha to the device since the last time i backed it up) and tried it again - error.
battery pull - error.
upgrade to v4.6 - error.
downgrade to v4.5 - error.
sometimes it goes like 1% of the way - error

I think it's the device (possibly the os) and I don't know what other troubleshoots i could do. does anybody have some ideas as to what I could do to get the dm back to working properly?

I had a similuar problem with errors in my backup.
I solved it by restoring from an earlier copy, there was some minor data loss.
When the error occures, it should indicate which database is at fault. You can try a selective restore of just that one database. Follow that with a backup and hopefully all will go well.
It actualy sounds like you may have two errors. You may have to do it in stages.
